    The Volkswagen Assembly Plant site preparation project is located in Chattanooga, TN.  Over a six month period of time a total of 4,475,000 CY of mass excavation, 1,880,000 CY of drilling and blasting, and 204,000 TN of base stone placement had been completed by Wright Brothers’ forces.  This work was completed by working 12 hours per day and 6 days per week.  At the height of construction Wright Brothers excavation crews were consistently averaging 50,000 CY of excavation per day.  This work was accomplished with 95 pieces of earthmoving equipment from Wright Brothers own fleet of equipment.  To maintain grade control on the project, Topcon GPS equipment was utilized.  The GPS equipment was placed on dozers, motor graders, trackhoes, and supervisors’ pickup trucks so that all personnel were working with the most up to date information at all times.
